My Goals for 2024
Another new year begins again! I already spent some time with my journal to reflect on the previous year and make plans for this one, but I thought I'd also post some of my goals here.
Professional goals
Get Tableau certification: Tableau suddenly became a big part of my professional life in November, and I needed to start learning it fast. I've discovered that I really enjoy the software, and I want to learn how to use it well. I've decided to challenge myself by preparing for a Tableau certification exam. I've already completed one Tableau Udemy course, and I'm in the middle of another one that's much more of a deep dive. Between that and lots of practice building and publishing visualizations, I hope to be ready for an exam within a couple of months.

Other goals
Read 30 books: I didn't read very much last year, at least not by my usual standards. I can't exactly say why that was. Probably stress, because many days it was easier to just zone out and play a new game from GOG. I love a good PC game, especially when it tells a compelling story, but I don't want gaming to displace reading, learning, and creating.
Draw 3-5 times per week: In August I started drawing nearly every day. As an experiment, I used a brush pen to make myself commit to whatever marks I made on the paper, good or bad or weird. In November I fell out of the habit, but I'd like to get back into the routine. There's a kind of meditation in it, and it's a good feeling when you manage to draw something you're a little bit proud of.
