Using the Describe Worksheet Feature in Tableau
Say you've inherited a Tableau workbook filled with all kinds of dimensions, filters, calculations, and parameters. How do you figure out what all these pieces are doing and how they fit together?
Previously I would look at each piece on by one, pull them apart, and make changes to see what they do. A haphazard and time-consuming approach, but I didn't know any other way. Until now.
Tableau has a feature called Describe Worksheet that tells you exactly what the worksheet is doing and how it's put together. To use it:
- From the
Worksheet
menu, selectDescribe Sheet
. - Alternatively, press
Ctrl-E
